I love eating something in the morning with my coffee or tea, and if it is homemade then it is a Christmas for me and I was trying to bake buttermilk bread for that for like ever and now I actually have some courage since, my homemade brad was a success so today I am going to make buttermilk bread and we will see what happens.
To make one loaf you need 2 cups of all-purpose flour, half cup of white sugar, one and half teaspoon baking powder and half of teaspoon baking soda, a pinch of salt, one cup of buttermilk, one large egg, 2 tablespoon unsalted butter, olive oil, or vegetable oil, it is up to you, but I will say add butter to get the right taste and smoothness and preheat the oven at 350°F and prepare a loaf pan with sheet and oiling.
Now take flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium size bowl and mix well and then take the melted butter in a separate bowl and add buttermilk and the egg in it and mix well now when they are done, you need to pour the liquid ingredients in dry ingredients and mix well, don’t over mix though.
Now shift the batter into the prepared pan and bake it for 45-50 minutes or until the bread look domed and golden and check it with a toothpick and then let it get cool down for another 10-20 minutes and then slice and if you want to store it then don’t remove the paper or it will get saggy pretty quick, let the brown paper all around the bread and then wrap baked loaves tightly in plastic wrap and store at room temperature and you can freeze it up to three months too.
Now here are some options that I would love to give you:
Reduce the Sugar to get savory breads.
You can add yogurt and milk to get even smoother and softer bread.
You can add 1 1/2 cups fruits, nuts, olives, cheese, anything you like in the same better and if you trying to make sweet bread then you can add honey in it or you can add more sugar.
