Today I am going to shade a very yum and very tasty recipe with you and the funny thing is, you don’t need oven or tandur for this recipe , you can make it over pan or tawa too and it would become your favorite dish very soon cause it is very yummy and very exotic, I make it every now and then with or without butter hence making plain naan or butter naan, you can add or skip things according to your choice and you can make your own version of naan at home, you would love it with plain tea in the mrning or you can try with green riata and you would love these very soft and very tasty naan and the entire preparation process is quite simple and very easy and when you make naan at home, you actually feel so good and your family would be super impressed.
Here is The Recipe For Plain Naan:
Ingredients you need,
All purpose flour 2 cups
Instant yeast – 1 Teaspoon
Baking powder – 1/4 Teaspoon
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
Sugar – 1 teaspoon
Cooking oil – 3 Tablespoons
Milk – 1/2 cup warm
Yogurt – 4 Tablespoons
Butter – as required for applying on cooked naan, you don’t really have to use it if you don’t like too much butter, but try at least one; they taste pretty yum especially with curies or with tea.
Now we will start making it, you will take a big bowl and mix flour, yeast, baking powder, salt and sugar and mix them well, now you need to add oil and yogurt and mix, you need to understand one thing, don’t use chilled or cold yogurt, you should use a yogurt you left in kitchen for hours and its warm.
Now you need to add warm milk, you need to add a little by little and start kneading, we will mix the mixture and then we will mix it till it forms very soft dough, but don’t use too hot or too cold milk, use warm and make the dough slightly soft cause yeast need some moisturizer to get activate, keep kneading for 8-10 minutes, and then take some oil in your fingers and rub it all over the dough and keep it covered with a cling film in a warm place, I put it in the oven, but not hot one, just plain turned off oven for an hour or more and then you keep an eye on it and wait till the dough doubles in size.
Now you need to take the dough and punch down the air and divide it into equal portions, you can make 6 naan with that so divide them in 6 portions and then start rolling the dough to form a disc and then keep rolling and make a Naan shape and make it as thick or as thin as per your choice, but you need to understand that it will swell up a little during cooking so it’s better to keep it thin, now put the pan or tawa on heat, but keep it on medium or low heat and now put your naan on it, cover it with some sort of lid and cook for anything between 1-3 minutes.
You need to keep an eye on it though and when you see bubbles forming on the top surface flip it to the other side and cover and cook again and when it is done, take some butter and apply on one side and it’s done, put it in some hotpot or covered in a cloth to stay soft and warm till being served.
